Junichi Abe incorporates patchwork, a multitude of font selections and an interesting use of layers to bring together an kolor SS19 collection that stresses the theme of “incompleteness.”

Using patchwork as a means of establishing his vision, Junichi Abe creates an interesting set of silhouettes that seem pasted together through a variety of elements. In the masculine, oversized shirting and more feminine skirting, it’s clear to see the influence CdG has had on the designer’s overall design, but each piece still remains fresh with a more haphazard fabric placement that seems characteristic of kolor. His outerwear, which are classic revisions of iconic sportswear silhouettes, feature an equally chaotic use of color and material while adding cinches along the body and hem. Throughout the entire range, you can see an unmatched level of thoughtfulness in the designer’s destructive approach.
