maharishi Autumn/Winter '18
maharishi explores themes of privacy concerns, government surveillance, and information within the digital age for their Autumn/Winter '18 collection.
"In an age where privacy of the individual is bought and sold as a commodity by an increasingly consolidated group of Tech Giants and when Governments are both increasing their surveillance of their citizens and unwillingly having their own secrets exposed, maharishi explores the double-edged sword that the internet has provided us with; the serpent within the core of the information age."
To emphasise this, the collection features pieces with wireframe graphics in combination with ancient Japanese artworks as well as graphics inspired by the Greek Chimera - a hybrid beast and omen of impending disaster. With the display of stark black garments amongst bright reds, camos, and earth tones, the label's collection creates a comfortable balance between subtle and bold. Some of the outerwear pieces is heavily rooted in military while featuring a level of utility. A few key pieces like the bright red kimono, embroidered outerwear, and patchwork jacket add to what is already a refined collection.
