WTAPS Spring/Summer '20

Still strong since its founding in 1996, WTAPS has undergone many a different change throughout the decades, but these past few years have seen the Tetsu Nishiyama label both revisit and expand on its roots with fan favorite staples, an array of bold graphics, and further tweaked Western militaria. Spring/Summer ‘20 is more a refinement of this return to form, marked by a series of warm weather essentials.

And despite that seasonal focus, the range still displays the designer’s penchant for quality outerwear, as his classic Jungle LS and W51 very forwardly prove. Interwoven just adjacent, however, is a slew of short-sleeve tops and matching shorts, all taking on a general palette more akin to Fall/Winter than the timeframe for which they’re actually curated. As such, dark olives, light creams, patterned greys, and various complementing neutrals affix to styles of all sorts -- the most standout being the Creep jacket replete with its all-over print, the Guardian Twill top cut incredibly oversized, and the satin-dressed set that bears the most playful execution out of the entire collection. Moreover, basics are mixed in -- e.g. striped polos, tees, cargo bottoms, and the like -- rounding off elsewhere via sweatshirts of collegiate font, smocks of a similar front-facing design, mechanic inspired workwear, and much more.
