Engineered Garments Spring/Summer '21
Suzuki’s multi-faceted Engineered Garments delivers a thorough Spring/Summer ‘21 collection, covering both womenswear and menswear, and touching upon countless pillars of inspiration in the process.
The current climate has created a challenging environment for designers, especially those whose garments are functionally-driven and practical, but Daiki Suzuki - Engineered Garments founder and designer - has taken this in his stride and shifted focus slightly on the performance of his clothing. The brand has taken a small side-step, balancing comfort and relaxation with more casual styles to suit the wearers present-day needs. Often borrowing elements from workwear, military, Ivy, fishing and hiking apparel, Engineered Garments creates an aesthetic that devote followers flock to, whether a flak vest or Bedford blazer is their prerogative. Suzuki taps into a global array of patterns and fabrics, from Indian Madras to safari-inspired prints, fusing these with workwear staples and hooded smocks. Military fatigue bottoms and jackets come in slouchy silhouettes, while olive belted trench coats and baggy shorts compliment the ensemble. With hands in pockets and sunglasses on, models are care-free and casual in their appearance, further enhancing the collections relaxing delivery.
