Johanna Parv Autumn/Winter '23

Previewed during Fashion East, a space for upcoming designers to showcase their design prowess, Johanna Parv used it as a platform to showcase her Autumn/Winter ‘23 collection.

Since graduating from CSM in 2020, the Estonian-born designer, Johanna Parv, has held positions at Balenciaga, Dior and Soar Running, all of which have influenced her process as a designer - existing in a grey area between technical and high-end. Designing with the utmost functionality in mind, Parv’s creations strip away any unnecessary formalities that otherwise get in the way. The garments play around with the idea of removing certain elements to transform them depending on the setting or required function; for example, a skirt that can be tucked away into shorts as and when.

⁣For Autumn/Winter ‘23, Parv continues to do as she has done in the past: seamlessly incorporate functionality in the everyday uniforms of modern commuters. Technical nylon fabrications and sheer mesh are some of the fabrics that make their way into the collection, with wrap-around skirts, arm warmers with thumbholes, dresses and vests leading the front.
