rig and nonnative Collaborate on the 'BAWAKA' and 'KAMBA' Ready for Spring/Summer

With an emphasis on recovery, nonnative and rig have devised the ‘BAWAKA’ and ‘KAMBA’ silhouettes for Spring/Summer ‘23.

Designed with the utmost functionality, rig has undergone rigorous testing and interviewing of performance athletes to understand what works best and what is required for a recovery sandal. This field research is coupled with a design approach based on the unique Japanese foot structure, promising a sandal that delivers comfort through shock absorption and maximum relaxation.

Utilising this methodology and channelling nonnative’s design language, the pair have developed the ‘BAWAKA’ and ‘KAMBA’ models which come in a black and olive green colourway. The KAMBA style is based on the ‘nohy’ model from S/S ‘23 and adopts a stripped-back approach, featuring a piece of rope and Velcro to secure the foot. Secondly, the BAWAKA features a custom upper design which can be easily adjusted at a moment’s notice, while offering breathability due to its mesh construction. Features of both styles include a lightly rubberised sole, toe hook system and maximal EVA foam in the midsole.
