FEATURE | FAAR Tokyo
As every facet of the fashion industry and digital world become increasingly intertwined, there are a number of figures who still cherish tradition and hold physicality above the rest: FAAR, the brainchild of Masato Segawa, is one such institution.
Opened in early 2022, FAAR, has established itself amidst Japan’s retail landscape in the quiet, relatively uncommercial, Hirano district of Koto City. Borrowing its name from the abbreviation of ‘Functions And Alternative Research’, FAAR serves as a multi-functional space that adheres to no borders or pre-conceived ideas of what physical retail should look like. As a destination, FAAR is host to clothing brands from all over the world including Frank Leder of Berlin, Cristaseya, SEALL and AUBETT, while simultaneously providing a place for glassware, books and ceramics to exist in symbiosis. The interior of FAAR is a beautiful showcase of when elements of industrial and natural breath in the same vicinity, complimenting the store’s breadth of products.
