EDITORIAL | HANWAG ROTPUNKT by eye_C
Born in Bavaria, Germany, HANWAG has been at the forefront of mountaineering and outdoor-oriented footwear for over a century now and shows no signs of letting up.
In the early 1980s, HANWAG, was one of the first companies to make sport climbing shoes. Now, one of its iconic styles is enjoying a revival: the ROTPUNKT. While, to some, it may have seemed like another footwear style introduced to a growing market, the introduction of the ROTPUNKT marked a step forward in climbing innovation. Now they have reintroduced the ROTPUNKT back into the market as an ode to the original model.
As it makes a resurgence, the ROTPUNKT adheres to the same retro styling that propelled its popularity back in the 1980s. Both the HANWAG logo and overall construction stay true to the original design which is a testament to their reputation. Further nostalgic details come in the form of two-tone laces, metallic eyelets and a bespoke retro shoebox. Not one to shy away from making a statement, the featured models come in a three different colourways, Magenta/Lagoon, Lagoon/OIcha and Seablue/Yellow.
In celebration of this model, the ROTPUNKT will be limited to just 999 pairs and each one will have an embossed serial number. Available via HANWAG and selected retailers starting September 14th.
