SEDAN ALL-PURPOSE and Dickies Re-Work Quintessential Workwear Styles
Dickies Japan has been host to several workwear-themed collaborations over the years, but our favourites often come by way of SEDAN ALL-PURPOSE. Together, they seek to change our perception of traditional workwear garments.
Despite its workwear roots, Dickies is as ubiquitous with 1990s streetwear and skating culture as any other brand that you can name, partly due to its adoption by those participating in the latter. SEDAN ALL-PURPOSE’s latest partnership with Dickies seeks to celebrate this period and how it has informed their individual legacies. The resulting styles include the Quilted Work Jacket and Ventilation Double Knee Work Pant, which are variations of historic workwear silhouettes.
Firstly, the Quilted Work Jacket has been around for as long as modern clothing, while the Ventilation Double Knee Work Pant is another iteration of Dickies iconic legwear style, modified to exist in the SEDAN ALL-PURPOSE universe. Several alterations have been made to both styles to remove some of their harsh workwear characteristics, such as the stiffness of the fabric and the ribbing on the cuffs of the jacket, but just enough to retain their character. The Double Knee’s, for example, take on a slightly wider cut and feature zipper ventilation down the side, and the work jacket has drawcord adjustability and two spacious pockets.
