Wonderwall designs Vegeo Vegeco's new yaoya store in Tokyo

Wonderwall designs Vegeo Vegeco's new yaoya store in Tokyo

Yaoya are grocery stores with good relationships to farmers and great knowledge about the fruits and vegetables they sell, that used to be found everywhere in Japan. A yaoya seems to be much harder to find these days because of the new modern stores and their wide selection, but Vegeo Vegeco wanted to change that and so they opened their own store earlier this year. They offer fresh fruits and vegetables grown by farmers in Kyushu, a southern island in Japan. Before the physical store, they ran a subscription service for fruits and vegetables online that is still very much alive today, now with it's own app.

The interior was designed by Masamichi Katayama / Wonderwall and focus on a clean simple design with a traditional aesthetic where the vegetables are in focus. Check out a few photos of the space below and make sure to stop by if you need some fresh greens while in Tokyo.
