DOMINATE Autumn/Winter '19
Inspired by Jamaican media, Dominate Jakarta turns their many militaristic pieces into a love letter to “Rockers,” a film by Theodorus Bafaloukos from way back in 1978. Entitled “We A Rockers,” each piece of this AW19 collection is ripe with reggae themes in a package of their usual apparel staples.
Channeling the creative culture of the island nation itself, the Indonesian brand has infused a sort of DIY spirit throughout. Simple graphics are among one of the most overt in this connection, arriving across a vast selection of hoodies, tees, and outerwear. The latter -- easily the most diverse in variety relative to the other categories -- goes down the line of classic staples by way of fatigue jackets, BDUs, quarter-zip pullovers, coaches, and even full-zip parkas. Olive, black, tan, or patchworked with all of the above, each is a continuation of what label does best with some even adding on neon green type of “DOMINATE EXPERIMENTAL GARMENT.” Jersey tops and the rest of the aforementioned basics follow along in these motifs with some touting the range’s namesake instead of classic logos alone.
