Kohei Nishimura’s Digawel imprint is an ever-changing entity of varying influence as each collection changes up the theme of those prior for an impact in both design and inspiration. AW19, in its use of vintage mindful motifs, finds itself right in between the Ivy League and the Wild West.

While a few garments lean towards the contemporary in their adherence to the basics, some are much more adventurous in their appearance, going from a 9:00 AM lecture to a sunset showdown. Outerwear receives the full front of the overarching muse as Type 1 truckers come adorned in contrast collars and fringe chests while wool blousons, mixed denim chaps, and lightwash overalls coincide to add that bit of old time edge. Cleaning up quite a bit in small doses, v-neck varsity sweaters, suit sets, pleated trousers, and even collegiate font sweatshirts ground the entire arrangement in something familiar. While this disconnect can be, at times, jarring, the Japanese label has somehow incorporated it seamless throughout.
