MADNESS Presents Its Own Take on the New Balance 990
MADNESS, created by multi-hyphenate Shawn Yue, is taking its aggressive and collaborative spirit into the heritage workings of Boston’s New Balance, putting the 990’s lifestyle alternate up on the cutting board.
What ensues is two vastly different colorways of the same staple silhouette, with one opting for deeper earth tones and the other putting its own spin on the scheme made famous by quite a few N-toting iterations. The first, a mix of rich brown overlays and dark navy unders fixes itself in a scheme of subtlety made much louder by the collaborative pairing’s choice of bright orange accents, which makes way across the toebox and various other components. Following suit in its motif but not color, the grey-drab offering opts instead for a mint green, using it to detail the more muted hues of shaded variance in the same sort of execution. Laces, which arrive in two, present you the choice between a more vibrant roped weave or a flat alternative of white with the label’s “all work and no play makes you mad” mantra imprinted atop its face.
Grab a detailed look at both pairs below and find them releasing online at the MADNESS webstore and in-store at their physical Beijing location come April 22nd and 23rd, respectively.
