Y's Alcantara Autumn/Winter '19

Expressive in the themes and philosophies of legend Yohji Yamamoto, though wrapped in the technical casings of Alcantara’s enduring Italian made fabrications, the garments of Y’s walked the runway of Omotesando Hills in a breadth deeper than leads on. Reuniting with another after a near five year break, the forthcoming set piece is a true return to form for both industry giants.

Surely an affectionate love letter to outerwear, the capsule draws out quite a few of the immense possibilities in the infinitely deep category, applying many a motif to its constructions in a methodology that hardly comes close to mundane. Shimmering silvers add a futurist note to a series of mostly contemporary garments, sitting somehow seamlessly next to patchwork blazers and overcoats of an intentionally crinkled material. Patterned knitwear — across both tops and bottoms — add aggressive frilled edges and punchy plaid patterns with florals and many more aggressive make-ups creating a mosaic of bright tones. Quilted parkas in smooth ivory as well as a few more simplistic, earth tone variants add zipped hoods that separate down their center in a fashion regal though, at its core, utilitarian. This continues on with armors weather-resistant and even reminiscent of leather, finding shape in the many schematics of the iconic designer.

Grab a detailed look at the pieces in detail below and expect to learn more closer to to their releasing season.
