RARE Captures the Energy of MAGIC STICK's Naotaka Konno in their Latest Feature

Amassing notable connections throughout the entirety of the music industry, capturing the eye of global giant Nike, and growing his own label MAGIC STICK to a place of tantalizing obscurity, Naotaka Konno is a figure who needs no introduction to those in the know. Continuing to impress, the team at RARE were fortunate enough to sit down and chat with the multi-hyphenate about his roots, interests, and the concepts behind his brand.
“It’s funny to think how my achievements have gotten me this far and I definitely have no regrets with how things have played out.”
Growing up on Gundam and anime like any ordinary kid and then pursuing fashion after a seemingly passing interest with his friends during high school, the music loving stalwart has gone to find his passions and foothold in a culture competitive to a fault. Fusing both of his main interests — while previously holding music festivals with huge names and going on to tackle a collaboration atop the Air Force 1 — Naotaka Konno’s work is ripe with thought and personal vision.
“Instead of making 10,000 tees for 10,000 people, it’s best to keep it to a minority who agree with how I design and create while expressing their own identity. It’s important for me that people understand my intention and the overall quality of what I offer.”
Talking the mundane and the oft-untold, the Canada-based imprint really takes a deep dive into the mind of MAGIC STICK’s quite mysterious founder and head. To get a better understanding of him as well as the brand he operates, be sure to check out the full piece right on rare1.ca.
