doublet Autumn/Winter '19

doublet AW19 can only be described as terrifying in the best possible way, finding balance between Masayuki Ino’s eccentric edge with the stylistic embellishments of classic horror motifs. Clowns, skeletons, and ominous serial killer masks are just parts of the entire picture, painting a colorful amalgam of what the label dubs “SURPRISE!”

Standing in almost complete contrast to the vacation-heavy themes of the most recent season, Ino’s latest is an expanse that almost knows no boundaries. Past staples — such as the fur coats topped with hand-painted backs, colorful track suit sets, and oversized graphic tees — come together with the refreshing ensemble of the newly added, touching on all categories in a way true to form. Puffer jackets, though seemingly barren, come adorned with glow-in-the-dark detailing as it lights up to reveal an anatomically correct rib cage at the torso. This design shines through on accompanying pants as well as a few other warmer weather friendly garments though with their appropriate body parts represented. Suiting feature edge accents akin to the athletic, wool knit sweater flip inside-out to unveil their Halloween-fashioned face covers, Polaroid-styled prints add in even more thrilling imagery, and so much more come equipped to send chills down your spine.
