nonnative Spring/Summer '20
Sportswear purveyor nonnative continues to employ brand new themes with each season, though without fail, the Japanese label operates under a scrutinous level of utility. Spring/Summer ‘20 sees to denim staples, slightly oversized Americana, and a strong assortment of weatherproofed garments -- all signed off with an obvious quality.
From dark black ensembles to western-esque plaids, the range strikes with strong diversity, though instead of blurring the lines between each end of the spectrum, it firmly draws a divide. The more technical end lies subtle, boasting neutral constructions outfitted with the ever-signature GORE-TEX INFINIUM fabrication, a water-resistant tool that unequivocally suits its Trooper parka base. Adjacent, the Officer Blouson follows suit in terms of material, completing a set with its pleated trousers and embroidered cap. Militaria, seemingly posed an offshoot of the line’s seasonal trends, sees what is arguably its most developed selection yet — olive-tinged BDUs, traditional nylon twill bombers, repurposed smocks of the most standout. Elsewhere, few pieces adhere to a sartorial point of view, slimming down unstructured blazers while adding on traditional oxfords and floral shirting to match. But as these lie more formal, there’s an equal if not more expansive curation of streetwear basics in the form of hoodies, tees, and dad hats all replete with a retro graphic styling.
