Cecilie Bahnsen Autumn/Winter '20
Feminine with force, Copenhagen-based Cecilie Bahnsen dismantles the preconceived for her Fall/Winter ‘20 collection, showcasing a reserved elegance while simultaneously mixing mediums and genres in a signature that is difficult to attribute to anyone but herself.
At times almost ceremonious in their general ethos, the garments strike a style gradient as they walk down the runway, going from pure white dresses with sheer outer layers and voluminous silhouettes to a mix of earth toned knitwear and heavily treated light blue forms. And though her expertise dominates within the realm of formalwear -- exemplified by the vast yet varied array of gowns -- the designer equally distinguishes herself in anything adjacent, with blazers and pullover vests synergizing well in ways unexpected. Even a few standouts layer together loose gauge weaves with ornate floral masterworks -- the latter tinged in Bahnsen’s penchant for texture. With loose, extremely oversized parkas and quilted capes coming together, the dimensional spectrum moves the needle by large leaps while grounding itself in one indescribable aesthetic.
