HAVEN and Mountain Research Explore Anarchic Mountaineering with SS20 Collaboration
Led by one of the greatest minds in Japanese fashion -- Setsumasa Kobayashi -- Mountain Research has long since steered the way for outdoors gear, with its original General Research namesake still one of the most talked about within the burgeoning subculture. Now, set forth on a somewhat hybridized trajectory, the designer is fleshing out his concept of “Anarchy In The Mountain,” touting it confidently throughout not only his mainline collection but also his forthcoming collaboration with Canadian retailer HAVEN.
Curated to a total of six individual pieces, the capsule spans into accessories as well as it does basics and outerwear; each garment, whose constructions run replete with a versatile, triple black palette, could easily impress by way of their utility alone. But alongside, the label effectively welcomes the boutique into their makeshift rebellion as the storefronts’ signature “H” is emblazoned within the “Anarcho” insignia. Bands with the modified co-branding mark across even the lead offering, whose dual-layered constructions expand further on the timeless bomber template. Along the top of an already enduring cotton and nylon grosgrain fabrication, a fly fishing influenced vest lies embedded, contrasting through its luxe nylon flight satin and adorned patch pockets. Adjacent, the Phisherman Trouser approaches modularity as the bottom can be worn in two ways: the first as a typical full-length pant and the next a more warm weather friendly short alternative. The selection is then rounded off with graphic tees and hoodies for extra wearables, while a printed bandana and plush Protestor Bear join along for extra flair.
