meanswhile ‘Air Circulation System Rain Jacket’
Always designing a product with a purpose, meanswhile’s Air Circulation System Rain Jacket is the epitome of functional outerwear.
Japan’s summers are known to be hot and humid and in an attempt to counteract the harsh weather faced in these urban environments, meanswhile incorporate the latest in air-circulating technology on this model. The technology was originally designed by the Japanese company, Kuchofoku, to be used in uniforms for Japanese workers, but the demand for consumer use has increased and so we see a wider application of this innovation. Two double-integrated fans are located at the rear of the jacket and promote sweat evaporation reducing a build-up of water vapour on the inside. The Rain Jacket is constructed using a breathable, 3-layered ripstop nylon fabric that is simultaneously lightweight and weatherproof. A flap can be removed by zipper to reveal the fans underneath and the sleeves can also be removed to increase ventilation for the wearer. Once the fans are concealed, the jacket becomes nondescript - besides the iconic meanwhile neck webbing - yet still delivers an extremely functional, utilitarian garment.
While the aforementioned isn’t set to release till September, meanswhile are set to host a pop-up at Isetan Department Store from 8th July.
