YAMAI Autumn/Winter '20
YAMAI, the eponymous label of Snow Peak director and designer Lisa Yamai, challenges the connection between humans and nature as they return with organic, hand-crafted garments for their Autumn/Winter ‘20 collection.
With this vision in mind, the female+unisex brand opts for free-flowing and comfortable silhouettes in combination with durable fabrics crafted with natural dye colors. The label prepares for colder Winter weathers with their take on the trench coat, coming in a textured black colorway and additional hand pockets below the buckle-less belt. Showcasing heavy inspirations from traditional Japanese garments such as the kimono, multiple iterations of this style are introduced in a full-body gray and a darker cropped version held together with a high-waist tie. Details such as frilled designs are applied to cropped tops, giving a voluminous effect to the staples. More formal styles, reminiscent of a suit-jacket set, exhibit intricate patterning with contrast stripes and geometric spiral shapes.
