With the 2021 Olympic Games set to be hosted in Tokyo, DC Shoes Japan took it upon themselves to develop a concise capsule of outerwear to provide an added layer of protection for the participating athletes.

Utilising DuPont’s Tyvek® material technology, each garment is said to be a confrontation to the ongoing virus, boasting antibacterial properties. They have developed two outerwear staples, one of which is an insulated puffer jacket and the other is a long coat, donning three colourways: tonal black, white & black and white & blue. Typically used on protective medical clothing, each garment features Tyvek®, a unique non-woven fabric made by binding continuous ultrafine long fibres of high-density polyethylene which is light and strong, and less susceptible to being permeated by droplets and dust that may contain the virus, as well as having high moisture permeability and water-repellency; it can be worn in a number of different scenarios. Equipped with technical details aplenty including a removable face shield, taped seams to reinforce the vulnerable areas, waterproof zippers and interior storage pockets.

Available now via DC Shoes Japan’s online store.
