Engineered Garments Autumn/Winter '21
Nestled amongst New York’s Garment District, Engineered Garments - one arm of the Nepenthes family - continues to pave their own distinctive path, and their Autumn/Winter ‘21 collection is a sheer testament to that.
While on the surface of things, Engineered Garments is easily identifiable thanks to a magnitude of different realms of inspiration at the centre of the brand; to name a few, military, outdoor, workwear, Ivy and sportswear are frequently referenced and reinterpreted into a number of seasonal garments. At the core of Suzuki’s namesake, Engineered Garments, is a handful of styles that are released on a seasonal basis, but are often re-worked in accordance to the time of year through the use of different textures, fabrics and fits. For the Autumn/Winter ‘21 season, the collection is reminiscent of All-American workwear and outdoor clothing catalogues, partly referenced through the bold plaid checks, Navajo prints and associated silhouettes. In addition, long fleece coats, military liners, hooded poncho jackets and flak vests are a select few of the outerwear pieces in the collection. Seasonal staples include bottoms in varying cuts and fabrics, shirting and hooded sweats. Likely to be announced in the coming months, there are glimpses of furthering their collaborative endeavours with heritage-brand Barbour. As per usual, the collection is in line with Daiki’s revered touch sitting in a distinct realm of its own.
