Snow Peak and New Balance Tokyo Design Studio Create an Outdoor Sandal, the "TDS Niobium Concept 2".
We are becoming increasingly accustomed to collaborations between the Japanese label, Snow Peak, and New Balance’s Tokyo Design Studio. The pair often marries the attitudes of both parties into experimental yet functional outdoors footwear.
Heralded as the world’s first 2-way outdoor sandal, the TDS Niobium Concept 2 is a utilitarian style built around the concept of 'Utility and Transformable'. This time around, it is a sandal that can also be transformed into a mule by detaching the rear heel strap, a modular ideal we have seen in previous collaborations from the two. The Niobium Concept 2 uses New Balance’s premium trail-running sole unit, the ‘Fresh Foam X’, and comes with a black/olive colour theme inspired by the notion of easy transcience between the pavement and the field - capturing the essence of both New Balance and Snow Peak. There is a number of technical features throughout borrowed from New Balance’s trail-ready footwear, including the aforementioned Fresh Foam X technology, a Vibram Mega Grip outsole and magnetic FIDLOCK buckles, all of which make the silhouette outdoors ready.
They will be available in stores across Japan from Friday, 25th of June and worldwide starting July 2nd.
