Sabukaru Online Highlights Afew Goods' Sustainably-Made 'Yamasura' Runner
The Sabukaru Online team has produced a comprehensive feature that celebrates the release of Afew Goods’ ‘Yamasura’ runner; their first trainer designed and developed in-house.
Afew Goods sits under the umbrella of AFEW, a German-based sneaker boutique selling the likes of Nike, Asics and New Balance. Designed in Germany and handcrafted in Portugal, the ‘Yamasura’ was created with sustainability and transparency in mind. Throughout the shoe is various panels made from vegan suede, nubuck and mesh, as well as the midsole which mainly comprises of an algae-based foam called BLOOM Algae EVA developed by ForEver. Inspired by the design of Ferrari’s Testarossa, the midsole is reminiscent of the twin radiators located on either side of the sports car.
With assistance from Tokyo-based photographer and stylist, Yuthanan, the Sabukaru team shot an editorial in Enoshima highlighting the ‘Yamasura’ runner alongside apparel from the likes of C.P. Company, Fresh Service, DESCENDANT and Graphpaper.
The Afew Goods Yamasura "Soil" will release on Saturday the 31st July in-store and online.
Check out a small excerpt from the interview with AFEW co-founder, Andreas Biergen, below and head over to Sabukaru Online for the full read.
It's the year 2021; everybody and every brand try to jump on the sustainability wave. While many big players slowly start, you guys are bringing out a sustainable approach right now. What do you think the rest of the industry can learn from you?
Andreas: ‘First of all, it is good that everyone has jumped on the "sustainability train" and that sustainability is now a trend, even if many companies use sustainability more as a marketing tool, it is good that we are all more aware of it.’
