Arc'teryx Stays Rooted in its Mountain DNA with the Launch of 'System_A'
World-renowned Canadian mountaineering brand, Arc’teryx, often keeps its cards to its chest never losing sight of its humble roots in climbing and the outdoors, which remains at the forefront of its latest escapade.
First teased earlier in July, there was a lot of intrigue and ambiguity surrounding this more lifestyle-focused branch of Arc’teryx, artfully dubbed ‘System_A’.
Taka Kasuga, Creative Director, said, ‘It was conceived to bring a new expression into the brand and into the outdoors. All designs feature Arc’teryx pinnacle construction, packaged in an evolved new form.’ Thus, it brings forth familiar methods of design and fabrication, atypical of Arc’teryx but reinvents that in a way we haven’t seen from them before.
Built with versatility in mind, System_A seeks to attract a new generation of outdoor enthusiasts who are looking for a more toned-down yet equally functional garment. Supposedly designed for a range of mountain activities, the range includes technical materials and treatments like DWR coatings, GORE-TEX C-KNITTM construction and lightweight nylons, all of which seek to maximise functionality and performance. The first capsule consists of a multitude of pieces, some of which include: Anther Super Light Jacket, Dume Jacket, Dume Coat, Paltz Cargo Short, Copal Short Sleeve Tee and Quiver Bucket Bag, among others. The colour palette is confined to muted tones, something we are accustomed to with Arc’teryx’s minimal nature, like black and white but with sharp accents of yellow throw in for good measure.
For now, the capsule is predominantly men’s and gender-neutral sizing, but in Spring 2022 we will see the introduction of women’s specific fits.
