CONTROLLA+ Autumn/Winter '21
CONTROLLA+, a relative newcomer that debuted in Autumn/Winter ‘20 and has remained a regular mainstay at BEAMS retail stores, reveals its latest Autumn/Winter ‘21 collection inspired by the poetry of Yumeji Takehisa, a painter who was active mainly in the Taisho era.
The collection entitled after "Taisho Democracy", based on its thriving music, film, and theater culture, builds upon fresh, timeless garments that blend the harmony between beauty and comfort. Opting for relaxed shapes, their contemporary take on formal wear showcases a suit and pant set crafted with a thick, speckled grey fabric while refined with an integrated belt, distressed hems, and collarless details. Baggy wool cardigans are essential layer styles under military-infused outerwear pieces including a high-collared minimalist zip-up jacket and a patchworked coat combining various plaid-based fabrics. Abstract graphic designs by CONTROLLA+ director Dai Watanabe are sprinkled across tees and button up shirts, adding that splash of color throughout the fairly neutral collection.
