Konundrum® is Re-Thinking Outerwear Through Modular Design
Founded in 2020, Konundrum® is pushing the boundaries of innovation where outerwear is concerned by incorporating elements of modular garment design, a term that refers to ‘clothing items that have detachable pieces so that one can easily alter the clothing item to suit changing needs and tastes over time.'
Upon conceiving the label, its founders, Jan-Philipp Kosfeld and Annika Langhammer, acknowledged that modern clothing rarely accounts for the sudden changes in weather and context that individuals encounter in their day-to-day living. Intent on changing this, Konundrum® is using modular designs to solve the aforementioned problem with a platform - its Configurator tool - that grants freedom and exploration to pick and choose the components of the garment, or to buy one that is already assembled for you. For example, customers are able to co-create their jacket by selecting a ‘core’ (body of the jacket) and adding the components to it such as sleeve type, collar and whether they opt for a hood or not. As modularity and functionality go hand in hand, each piece is made using technical cotton from Switzerland that possesses rainproof, windproof and breathable properties that ensures all-weather protection.
