When a meaningful partnership comes together in an industry characterised by regular product releases and uninspired collaborations it is something to celebrate.
Working in unison with one another again for a second consecutive Spring/Summer season, the Manchester-based retailer, This Thing of Ours flexes its contemporary technical prowess with a helping hand from Mackintosh to develop a capsule that consists of two sets of structured windbreaker jackets and matching trousers.
Operating at the precipice of their respective fields, This Thing of Ours is the host to some of the leading labels in the field of functional design, including Goldwin, DESCENTE and Salomon while Mackintosh ensures that the likes of Kiko Kostadinov and Junya Watanabe COMME des GARÇONS MAN are well-equipped as far as outerwear manufacturing is concerned.
Sitting a mere 40 miles apart, what the pair share in their technical know-how is matched by their proud Lancashire roots making this a true showcase of British manufacturing and innovative design.
Conceptualised and manufactured in the pairs' native Lancashire, the team at This Thing of Ours dove into their archive to summon inspiration for the resulting styles: the Flora Taped Windbreaker and Flora Taped Wide Pant. In addition, a meticulous study of plants and their structures informed the construction of the Olmatex-composed garments, as seen on the Midrib-like contrast piping. Both pieces come equipped with technical details such as drawcord adjusters on the hem and hood - for the Flora Taped Windbreaker - and sizeable pockets that allow for personal belongings to be kept safe. Each style comes in a choice of two colours: for the jackets, they are Beige Orange and Tropic Green, whereas the bottoms are Foliage Green and Beige Orange.
