mfpen's Autumn/Winter '23 is an Elegant Display of Post-Punk and New Wave Style
Copenhagen-based label, mfpen, has unveiled its Autumn/Winter ’23 collection which is another fitting display of how elegant silhouettes can be crafted mindfully.
mfpen’s Autumn/Winter ‘23 collection references the aesthetic of post-punk and new wave artists like Ian Curtis, The Specials, David Byrne and The Smiths who re-contextualised formal silhouettes like tailored suits and shirts by removing them from their original destination and making them ‘theirs’. Taking this on board, mfpen builds the collection on, “The idea of wearing a suit without feeling corporate. Wearing garments which are considered formal, but with a feeling of dressing down.” Continuing to disrupt traditional dress codes, the lineup consists of overdyed denim, thrashed polo tops, knitwear, tailoring and shirting, all of which have been revisited through a distinctive lens.
In line with its production values, the collection is made in Italy and Portugal majoritively using deadstock fabrics that have been deemed obsolete to work with. In addition, other garments are made using organic cotton, Tencel® or natural and recycled fibres, including coats made from 100% recycled post-consumer wool.
