Nanamica Launches a Balmacaan Coat Made with Spiber's Brewed Protein Fibres

Earlier in the year, nanamica announced that it would be using Spiber’s Brewed Protein™ fibres across its Autumn/Winter ‘23. Now, we are seeing the fruits of this partnership in the form of a Balmacaan coat.

Through this joint development, nanamica will be utilising Spiber’s proprietary Brewed Protein™ technology which over the course of time will reduce demand for petroleum and animal-derived ingredients in clothing materials. These protein polymers can effectively be engineered into whatever fabric is desired by spinning the fibres into filament yarns with a delicacy like silk, as well as spun yarns like cashmere and wool.

The Balmacaan coat is a staple nanamica silhouette that features in various forms throughout its seasonal collections. Despite featuring a new material technology - Brewed Protein™ - the coat adopts its familiar construction with a wide fit throughout the body and draped shoulders, with a one-piece sleeve design.
