The Viridi-anne Spring/Summer '19
After graduating the Fine Arts program as a painting major at Tokyo Zoukei University, designer Tomoaki Okaniwa chose to use garments as a canvas for expressing himself. As such, he has honed his craft, creating solid silhouettes inspired by both militaristic and contemporary styles in this expansive SS19 collection.
Effectively pairing these two distinct styles, The Viridi-anne is a vast selection for those who favor versatility. The color palette consists mostly of neutral shades with contrasting orange and yellow pieces, adding a visual break in a sea of blacks, grays, and whites. Among the collection’s subtle pieces — such as the two leather jackets, slim fit trousers, and various suiting — are more utility-driven pieces like drop crotch cargo pants, utility parkas, and a small selection of bags. Fabrication and cuts are as diverse as the selection itself, ranging from slim suiting to boxy jumpsuits and outerwear.
