F/CE Womenswear Spring/Summer '20

Arguably the brighter side to the same UK-dressed coin, F/CE’s SS20 womenswear collection is near strength after strength with cuts escaping conformity and pieces themselves dripping in a vibrancy owed to no specific quality. Homage designs next to transformations of timeworn staples, the garments act in inspiration visible though in presentations undeniably authentic.

Upon first glance, the most discernible standouts are the palettes themselves: rich from head to toe, though with sparse featurettes from earth tones and neutrals, the story branches from lush greens to blinding yellows and then around to bold red hits among a mosaic of plaid print. Oversized in every category, the range lends heavy focus to the assortment of outerwear. Rain coats in their daisy-esque tone are given compartments akin to a mountain parka while similarly colored blousons sport a resemblant arrangement sans hood and length and in what looks to be polyethylene fabric. Utility vests and double-breasted trenches lie in light and dark browns, respectively, with the latter almost mimicking the shape of a dress, one such class of bottom utilized heavily in a vast array of different patterns and varying drape. Top halves make way in equal visual diversity as long shirts don classic checks and pajama-esque tops an interesting patchwork mosaic. Military essentials, such as M-51s and liners, also make a quick cameo appearance, though the former departs by way of a pastel pink, then -- arguably more culturally iconic -- the Barbour style arrives appropriated in cropped construction and without its signature waxed upper.
