YAMAI Spring/Summer '20
Lisa Yamai, director and designer of Snow Peak, has debuted her own eponymous brand YAMAI with the launch of its Spring/Summer 2020 collection.
While Snow Peak collections often protected its users from the outdoor elements, YAMAI aims to connect people with nature, offering more mature, female-focused garments that are designed to be worn for a lifetime. Specifically, this connection is forged by the vast range of carefully crafted, organic fabrics incorporated into each piece such as double gauze using Peruvian Pima 60/1, slowly hand-woven silk cotton for a durable yet soft touch, and cotton/linen blends hand-spun in the West Bengal region. The outerwear and layering pieces, which carry influences from the outdoor sphere as displayed by pocket storage and earth-toned colorways achieved through natural dyes, are expressed by draped, free-flowing silhouettes. Long dresses and coats are paired with elegant button up shirts and drawstrings vests as well as wide-legged lawn pants for the relaxed, everyday fit.
