JCM Spring/Summer '20
Aptly named, JCM, from the mind of designer Noriyuki Kanno, crafts what is loosely androgynous through a formal-tinged filter that has a fair share of cracks. As such, many of the pieces are simply constructed, cutting close to the grain pure minimalism.
Hoodies, in departure to many of the adjacent pieces, are quite far from their ordinary inspiration; instead, they cut to a shape intricate to say the least, almost shrouding the figure entirely from its bell-shaped arms to its slanted lower hem. Contrast strings along the hood fasten with deep contrast to their pastels and versatile backdrops of faint yellow, two tones that are clear favorites of Kanno as they take up a large majority of the central palette though in every imaginable variation. Dresses and skirts, some split into two divergent lengths and others tacked with button fasteners down their front just a bit off-center, are at the base of the core aesthetic, crafting with a breadth easily more expansive than any of the other genres. Tops, though, offer up their own strengths of earth tones and varying levels of cool tones through office appropriate styling done up with a subtle hint of the avant-garde — the most emblematic of this being the tan overcoat with its opening along the inner arm. Casual garments find their place as well, tackling the utmost extreme with loose sweat shorts and basics of solid and striped tees.
