UNDERCOVER Spring/Summer '20
In almost complete contrast to the jovial affair that was AW19, UNDERCOVER’s latest Spring/Summer creation is one utterly simple yet evocative in its preference for the sartorial.
Garments are treated to Jun Takahashi’s standard of high quality, with much of the allure being drawn to the subtly imprinted motifs placed atop the outer constructions of blazers and shirting. Their black palettes are largely unobstructed by any ounce of color, though applied contrast appliques and graphics take the form of homages to the iconic film Nosferatu and the works of American photographer Cindy Sherman. Slight horror aesthetics are then furthered in web shaped pleats across satin-like tops though quite a few remain fittingly barren of any embellishments. Covering a vast array of bases — with traditional streetwear surprisingly left behind in prior seasons — a varied platter of outerwear add a casual element in their selection of coaches jackets, zipped blousons, modified BDUs, and much more.
