Burgeoning Japanese label AURALEE combines cool colorways with relaxed fits in preparation for Spring/Summer 2020.
Ryota Iwai, the founder and designer of the Tokyo-based atelier, challenges his creative process by effectively creating an entire collection through constraints in garment styles while utilizing unique fabrics and textures. Casual button-up shirts are highlighted by breathable linen materials and unbuttoned styling while plaid-patterned versions give off a more formal feeling. Similarly, AURALEE boasts of multiple iterations of the long coat: one featuring a waxy, green surface, another with a orange-to-gray gradient colorway, and many featuring monochromatic minimalist with a box cut. The use of pastel colors and flexible layering emote the perfect Summer feeling.
