Daughter of legend Yohji Yamamoto, designer LIMI feu grabs hold of the reins once more with her eponymous label, crafting strong within the guidelines of her father’s making though doused with a touch unmistakably feminine. AW19 is a story of two distinct sides tinged with the overtly militaristic as well as the flamboyantly civilian.

The former of which is surely beyond familiar despite still going against the grain, shining through with the unpractical in both presentation and cut. Where often pieces prefer slim, her range of wool double-breasted and ordinarily crafted coats favor the loose as both their arms and torso billow as if to mimic that of a poncho. Jumpsuits, ripped right from the pilot seat of an F-16, bear a signature olive drab hue with simplistically barren arrangements stealing no shine from the bib zipper and oversized hood. This emphasis of accents can be seen prominently throughout even arguable basics: white shirting allure in its dangling ornaments, leather double riders feature raised embellishments at the shoulders, contrast dip dye break up the lightweight, and trousers warp to shapes unorthodox and avant-garde. Dresses as well as similarly fashioned skirts are — without any shred of doubt — the most fantastical as the latter leans towards the girlish and playful in its waving frills dyed entirely pink; its smarter, gala-ready alternative is heavily toned down while still retaining the childish mystique.
