AiE Autumn/Winter '20

Nepenthes label AiE, short for Arts in Education, showcases its latest refined, contemporary take on classic workwear styles for its layer-heavy Autumn/Winter ‘20 collection.

Lead designer Kenta Miyamoto, formerly an assistant designer to Daiki Suzuki of Engineered Garment, continues to set its foothold on New York’s Garment District as it produces all its garments in the city. The lookbook’s styling is defined by darker tones and oversized, relaxed silhouettes. In preparation for the colder weathers, outerwear pieces consist of cloak-styled layers with an integrated neck gaiter, plaid patterned knee-length coats, and corduroy pullovers featuring an off-centered quarter button accesorized with vintage silverware. The patterns on display are anything but minimal, incorporating Americana patterns and embroidery for trousers and shirts, nature-inspired camo graphics, and plenty of plaid. A standout piece is AiE’s leather interpretation of the fisherman’s vest, an elevation of a classic garment through material and craftsmanship.
