Snow Peak x New Balance Tokyo Design Studio 'Niobium'
Footwear collaborations are currently coming thick and fast, but the latest between Snow Peak and New Balance Tokyo Design Studio is set apart from others. For Autumn/Winter ‘20, the pair has designed an entirely new silhouette called the TDS Niobium Concept 1 that brings together elements from both brands.
Snow Peak’s ability to create mountain-ready modern footwear is unrivalled, as demonstrated by last years Extreme Spec R_C4 Mid. Following suit of previous efforts, the ‘TDS Niobium Concept 1’ is an all-terrain style boot that embodies the nature-driven ethos of the Japanese label. The model is entirely function-driven with a detachable upper, weather-resistant toe box and an ABZORB midsole for comfort and durability. Keeping in line with the fishing-inspired aesthetic, the shoe can either be worn as a slip-on clog or tall fishermen boot thanks to the ankle zipper. The sage green colourway is inspired by mossy rocks found on mountainous terrain. In addition, the pair have worked on a range of technical clothing constructed from a waterproof and breathable eVent fabric. Multi-pocket fishing vests, overalls, coats and quick-drying cotton tees all tie into the presentation of the collaboration. Like the shoes, the clothing is available in a sage green and sand colour.
