SEVENSTORE Speak to Patrick Stangbye ahead of Salomon S-LAB's Spring/Summer '21 Collection
To coincide with SEVENSTORE’s arrival of Salomon S-LAB Spring/Summer ‘21, they have caught up with intrepid trail-runner, Patrick Stangbye.
To some, the outdoors has become a place of solace to relax and unwind and, to others, it is a focal point of inspiration they look to, but, for Patrick, he has always found himself immersed in nature, even during his youth. For SEVENSTORE’s latest editorial feature, they speak to Patrick Stangbye, a Norway-based marketing consultant and a part of Hiking Patrol, about a number of topics including running as a tool to destress, putting outdoor clothing through its paces and functionality as luxury design.
Check out a small teaser from the interview below and head over to SEVENSTORE to read the full article.
How did your interest in fashion come to be intertwined with the kind of outdoor brands, like Arcteryx and Salomon, that we see featured on Hiking Patrol?
Patrick: So, I started mixing that sort of stuff with brands like Stone Island. It was 2016, and around that time that The Broken Arm did their first Salomon Advanced shoe. I was already wearing Salomon because I had a friend who did trail running.
Do you think this line of thinking will impact how fashion brands design too – perhaps more consciously, or with a view to garments having greater longevity?
Patrick: What I will give the more premium outdoor brands is that they have always designed with longevity in mind. And, that's also probably why some people really enjoy wearing those brands, because buying a brand new Arcteryx jacket feels pretty luxurious. Someone actually thought about every element of this jacket for many years.
