Following our Seasonal Highlight on Merrel’s 1TRL line , eye_C turns the spotlight towards some of the latest pieces from nonnative’s 39th collection titled “South” which takes its inspiration from New Zealand.
Creative directed by Takayuki Fujii, nonnative can easily be described as one of those rare entities that goes under the radar while keeping a focus on slowly developing high quality pieces made to enrich your daily life. Drawing inspiration from military, workwear and outdoor wear, the brand has amassed a loyal fanbase over the years that truly appreciates its well crafted garments and thus sweeping up most of the items within days or even hours after release.
For our latest Seasonal Highlight, we take a closer look at some of the key pieces from the Summer lineup that’ll help you tackle the warmer days ahead.
DWELLER HOODY S/S COTTON SWEAT & DWELLER EASY RIB SHORTS COTTON SWEAT OVERDYED
nonnative keeps elevating its basics each season to ensure the highest possible comfort and The Dweller Hoody with the matching Dweller Easy Rib shorts are a testament to that. Constructed of a soft remade and over-dyed cotton material from the Andes Mountains, the two pieces will keep you comfortable throughout the day and on the chill evenings this summer. Both the Hoody and the Shorts features a ribbed side hem for extra comfort.
TRUCKER S/S SHIRT COTTON 6oz CHAMBRAY
A classic western inspired piece, the TRUCKER S/S is a collarless pullover shirt constructed of a 60oz Chambray material. It features a slightly oversized fit making it an ideal layering piece that can easily be worn on its own and comes with a several nifty details throughout including side seam pockets, a half zip at the front, a chest pocket and split side seams with a button closure. Available in either beige or in the navy shown above.
DWELLER TRAINER LOW COTTON CANVAS
The DWELLER trainer has been a recurring silhouette in nonnative’s collections over the past few years and for Summer/Autumn the low version returns in a new cotton canvas version. As per usual, the made in Japan trainers are constructed with a waterproof GORE-TEX membrane to ensure that you stay completely dry during the rainy days. It also comes with an extra pair of navy laces for those opting for a more toned down look.
TROOPER SWEATER S/S C/S YARN
Arguably one of the comfiest pieces in the highlight, the TROOPER is a short sleeve crewneck sweater constructed of a silk and cotton blend which utilise a strong twist 20 / double yarn to provide a soft and smooth high-gauge knit.
The versatile piece works well on its own and can also be layered with a simply t-shirt or a regular short sleeve shirt for a more casual look.

GARDENER HAT N/P RIPSTOP STRETCH WITH GORE-TEX INFINIUM™
Last on our list is the Gardener hat which is crafted using GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® Technology making it fully waterproof yet soft to the touch. The 6-panel headwear piece features a low key design that matches well with the other beige/mole pieces in the collection and comes with an adjustable drawstring and a tonal GORE-TEX INFINIUM logo at the rear.
