Melvin Tanaya and Lyna Ty of Australian label Song for the Mute transition from their 21.1 Naïve collection, which channeled the joyous inner-child within, to a more rebellious narrative for 21.2 (Autumn/Winter ‘21).

Known for their thematic storytelling and bold designs, the 21.2 BEAST collection takes inspiration from 80s and 90s horror movies. Characters are portrayed in the lookbook almost as monsters or emotionless creatives while the garments feature melding colors, unsettling imagery, and chaotic patterns. The menswear side is highlighted by their reimagined blazer jacket, an oversized, fully lined iteration accompanied by their signature chenille lanyard. Meanwhile, the women’s pieces channel contrasting emotions of elegance and chaos as seen by their Rainbow Button Up Jacket, a military style jacket coming in a multi-coloured tapestry. Additionally, the team channels Karim Gaaloul’s printed face artwork that is portrayed on supple wool knit sweaters and lightweight long sleeve tees, further emphasizing the theme of BEAST.
