Devana Summer '21 is Geared Towards the Unpredictability of Urban and Outdoor Environments
The brainchild of the team behind Dreaded Path, a curated platform on Instagram, Devana is a lifestyle project based in the coastal city of Aberdeen, Scotland, situated on the edge of the U.K’s largest national park: the Cairngorms.
Inspired by the particularly diverse environment found in that part of North-East Scotland where city life rolls into the lochs, glens and hills of the Cairngorms, the garments have been designed to withstand these unpredictable conditions with a practical and functional sensibility. To combat these testing and unforeseen conditions that can sweep in given the geographical location, Devana incorporates organic waxed cotton, made by Halley Stevenson in Dundee, a mere 60 miles down the coast, across a number of pieces including the Antir Runner trainer and North Sea Pullover. The North Sea Pullover, for example, is an archetypal solution to the mild weather which swoops in during summer; a shower-proof layer made using an organic waxed ripstop cotton and features elasticated cuffs and an adjustable hem. Making up the only trainer in this capsule, the Antir Runner is a casual style geared towards both the light outdoors and urban environments. Handmade in Portugal using suede and Halley Stevenson’s waxed cotton whilst utilising a Vibram sole unit, it elevates the collection to another degree. To round off the range is two graphic tees that have been made in Portugal using a 200gsm heavyweight cotton and screen-printed in Scotland.
