DESCENTE ALLTERRAIN and côte&ciel Teases a New Collaborative Capsule for AW22
DESCENTE ALLTERRAIN and côte&ciel has linked up on a somewhat unexpected capsule that makes perfect sense for Autumn/Winter ‘22.
The two entities has been forward thinking and highly innovative in their own respective field for many years with products that are very often used in pairs and so it made perfect sense for the French bag brand and the
Japanese outdoor experts to put their minds together for a special project.
Although the teaser imagery doesn’t give too much away the designer at côte&ciel, Emilie Arnault, is hinting that the project will be an innovating way of connecting apparel and accessories for a more user friendly experience.
“It’s always a challenging experiment to work with a new team and I wanted the product to illustrate it. I love comparing bags with living beings and building a relationship between two brands, it’s like between souls, it takes time, trials an errors to finally make it. So I wanted the bags to connect progressively to the garments, from the simple overlay to a more complex intricacy. I don’t believe in love at first sight but more in a progressive approach of the Other, it must be due to my Parisian heritage “
According to Yamada Mitsuru, DESCENTE ALLTERRAIN’s Global Design Director, the project wasn’t an easy feat but the result may be the foundation of more projects together down the line.
"I was greatly impressed by how much Emilie comes up with ideas, and her professional attitude towards creations. That makes our collaboration one of the most challenging but exciting ones. Even though we're in a different field - apparel and accessory - I believe we have a lot in common when we think about creating and designing the products. Can't wait to see the outcomes and wishing we could do another project together.”
The project is slated for a release later this year but in the meantime, check out a few teasers from the project below and stay tuned for more information.
