COVERCHORD Speaks to nonnative Designer Takayuki Fujii about GUIDI
COVERCHORD sat down with the founder and head designer of nonnative, Takayuki Fujii, about his experience with wearing GUIDI boots, as well as collaborating with them, and what sets the Italian bootmaker apart from its competitors.
Catch an excerpt from the interview below, and head over to COVERCHORD to read it in full.
‘From your point of view, Mr. Fujii, who has designed shoes many times both in collaboration and in-house, where does the comfort of GUIDI come from?’
’GUIDI dyes the shoes after they are made, so I think that's a big factor. The point is that it is submerged in water and is being shrunk, and the wooden moulds are made with this in mind. That's why I don't think anyone can imitate it. It is created while having a conversation with the leather. It looks like pottery.’
