White Mountaineering Pays its Respect to Umbro's 'FIRST JOGGER' Silhouette
After an unexpected revival at the beginning of 2024, partly thanks to a collaboration with Slam Jam under its shared ‘Penalty Culture’ series, Umbro has been looking back on its 101-year archive and bringing some of its apparel and footwear back to life.
For its latest escapade, Umbro has enlisted the collaborative guide of White Mountaineering, which has given the sportswear label’s ‘FIRST JOGGER’ silhouette a once over. Retaining many of the shoe’s original defining features, White Mountaineering approaches this project with a less is more take, opting for a suede and patent leather upper reminiscent of vintage football boots. This is followed by the outsole, which has a unique tread pattern with various Umbro rhombus logos. The shoe is finished with Umbro’s logo on the sidewall, with White Mountaineering engraved next to it and on the footbed. There are three colourways to choose from, including white, brown and black.
The ‘FIRST JOGGER’ has been designed alongside a range of sportswear-inspired apparel, including track tops, training t-shirts, caps and a velour zip-up.
