Brain Dead and Reebok Liken the Pump Court and Beatnik to Ancient Artifacts

Founded on the Classic Leather, Brain Dead’s collaborative relationship with Reebok is soon to grow two-fold, the LA-based streetwear label readying up colorways for the once archived Pump Court and Beatnik sandal.

Likened to artifacts, the aforementioned silhouettes act as a metaphorical “Battery” and “Key,” respectively, both discovered by fabled researcher and historian Solomon Wright on his path to unlocking “inter-dimensional travel.” Aided visually by a SUPERDOOM-created film, the campaign comes to life in a fashion fitting of the loud, playful, and eclectic design.

Of the two, the Pump Court is undoubtedly the most distinct, a benefit of its more robust construction. The bladder covers much of the forefoot in glossy film, one hued off-white in complement to the underlying animal print. Muted blues then color the upper in seldom, accenting along the mid-foot’s supportive strap as well as the heel counter and tongue; adjacent, hits of natural tan, grey neutrals, and subtle inclusions of both green and yellow round off a palette that goes against the grain of the model’s origins.

By comparison, the Beatnik is far more low profile in hue, though it does include a few of the same motifs as its larger counterpart. The sandal’s signature toe box seems to be brandished with navy suede, a foundation on which the lightly toned ripple sole and yellow hardware can stand further out. The same animal fur used prior appears once again, reduced down to a small panel that is shrouded above by straps at both the heel and tongue.

Grab a detailed look at both upcoming options here and expect a release to arrive first on Brain Dead’s Webstore come September 15th. A wider release will then follow on September 18th.
