Fumito Ganryu Extends His Footwear Collaborations with an Understated Salomon XT-6
Fumito Ganryu, from CDG line to namesake label, has already established his expertise in footwear, employing the goodyear welted far prior while more recently indulging in the technical aesthetics of Suicoke. Heading down a path not too dissimilar, the Japanese designer extends his collaborative scope with Salomon and their now signature XT-6 silhouette.
From runway shows to city streets, the model is anything if not a flagship for the French imprint. Starting strong in a smaller community by way of Boris Bidjan Saberi and The Broken Arm, it’s gone on to take shape in a wealth of strong colorways both on an exclusive and general release scale. Phantom Grey make-ups see widespread praise, the colorful just as much, but what entices Ganryu here is the unassuming and understated. Black mesh and synthetic taping define much of the colorway, only varying by shades marginally distinct or by textures quite a bit more glossy in their finish. Laces thinly weave from side to side up next to a subtly emblazoned “FUMITO GANRYU,” while more standard inline logos set along the heel counter. Just below and also above at the lining, a vibrant yellows weaves its way in, breaking up the otherwise monochrome palette with a reserved pop.
Grab a detailed look at these here and expect a release to hit select shops come February 7th.
