Sillage Autumn/Winter '19
Rather than conforming to a set assortment of smalls to XLs, the Japanese-based Sillage focuses more on the pieces themselves, pushing their lines to an accentuated size fitting of its founder’s personal style. One size fits all -- something touted through execution rather than words alone -- is one of their most defining factors as they traverse one small capsule to the next. While its latest project saw to a strong, curated selection of loopwheel hoodies, they’ve now set off with grander ambitions as they craft one of their most expansive collections to date right at the tail end of 2019.
AW19 is mostly geared for the upcoming weather in mind, with layering possibilities made immense for any variation in winter time temperatures. Either cropped in the body or cut oversized to shroud the entirety of one’s silhouette, the pieces themselves draw out in a breadth of no certain guidelines. Sweatshirts, however, continue what is likely a favorite of their very own Yuthanan as its lack of an elastic hem allows for more interesting pairings of under layered collared shirts. This is taken even further in complexity with the arrival of both a bib hoodie and poncho style, two drastically distinct garments that still somehow serve the same category. Knitwear by way of scarfs in textured wools of bright pastels accessorize a series of similarly materialized outerwear whose patterns more so prefer dark plaids or simpler neutrals through styles classic work jackets, overcoats with drop shoulders, and blazers dressed up with contrast stripe detailing.
Also featuring a follow up to the trousers that started it all, Sillage has a lot in store in the near and far future, so be sure to take a peek at the full collection just below. Most have already dropped at their Fukuoka pop-up, which kicked off from 11/16 to 11/17, but keep an eye out on the Sillage webstore for a possible online release.
